whichSwitch

icon_256x256Over the summer of 2012 Ryan Lininger, a brilliant Network Engineer and close friend, contacted me with an idea for a simple OS X application. He wanted an app that could answer the question “What port and on what switch is this computer connected to right now?“. I provided the Objective-C grunt work and he provided the knowledge of CDP and LLDP packet analysis. What we ended up with is an embarrassingly easy-to-use application that very nearly makes you forget how frustrated you were with the guy who came before you and his failure to label a single network drop properly!

  1. Hi,

Fantastic application – very useful but I have found a bug where it seems to return -1 for VLAN’s with four digits or more. Happy to patch if it’s open source?
